Dying bishop uses farewell message to back gay marriage

A bishop who is dying of cancer has said he supports gay marriage and criticised the Church of England’s approach to gay people in a farewell letter to parishioners.

John Wraw, the bishop of Bradwell, in Essex, told The Daily Telegraph that the support he had received from gay people within the church had “made him think really seriously”.

In a letter published online he told his flock that his multiple myeloma is no longer treatable. In the letter he said that he hoped same-sex marriages would eventually receive “full acceptance” in the Church.
