Ahead of the flock

-

SIR – When I attend church I like to sit in the second row from the front.

I am usually on my own because the rest of the congregation seem to flock to the back rows (Letters, February 27). Bernard Powell Southport

SIR – Seeking some winter warmth at a bargain price, we went to a small Spanish island.

It was windy and cold. Being British, we took our books, wrapped up warm, and sat on the long, sandy beach.

Within an hour, about 20 German holidaymakers arrived, spread their towels next to us – and stripped naked. Even the best novels couldn’t filter out the goose-pimpled nudity. We moved. John and Lavender Buckland Shaftesbury, Dorset
