Under arrest

SIR – Kevin Henley (Letters, February 21) is fortunate he has received only a parking notice for a car he does not own.

Some time ago, my peaceful Monday breakfast was shattered by the receipt of an arrest notice – the police were coming to take me away! Living in the hub of a village would have made that a very embarrassing event.

A person had registered a car in my name and address, committed a string of offences and failed to present himself in court, hence the arrest warrant. My magistrate wife sorted the matter while I departed for the golf course. Robert Lightfoot Stoke-by-Nayland, Suffolk
