BAUKJEN

Founded by Dutch husband and wife duo Geoff van Sonsbeeck and Baukjen de Swaan Arons in London in 2012.

Best for Great quality basics. A tired, grubby, grey T-shirt is not chic, even if you’re just popping to Sainsbury’s on a Saturday afternoon. Baukjen’s are made from premium jersey in flattering longline cuts and are a firm favourite among customers.

They say “We’re champions of the flexible capsule closet. Our clothes are designed for a woman who wants an effortless wardrobe that’s comfy to wear and easy to style. She’s after great quality and fit, not throwaway fashion.”

£££ Very affordable, with camis from £29, trousers from £59 and outerwear from £199. The super-soft leather biker, £399, is a brand signature and now available in four colours (black, navy, pale blue and light pink). New items drop online every two to four weeks.

SAMSOE & SAMSOE

Another Danish find, it began life as a jewellery store, later developing into clothing. Founded by brothers Klaus and Preben Samsøe, they sold in 2000, but the company remains in the heart of Copenhagen.

Best for For anyone not enslaved to trends, the label looks more to making its pieces longlasting and wearable – see this very useful co-ord set. Pleated top, £114.95; pleated skirt, £114.95 (samsoe.com)

They say “Our honest craftsmanship, alongside high-quality fabrics and classic Scandi design, generates a sense of luxury. Our seasonal prints and knitwear are constantly best-sellers.”

£££ From £65 to £450, with new items arriving monthly. Also on asos.com.
