Goldsmith to stand in old seat for the Tories
Zac Goldsmith will attempt a comeback as a Tory MP just months after quitting the party in a protest over the Government’s support for Heathrow expansion.
Mr Goldsmith lost his Richmond Park seat in December to the Lib Dems in a by-election which he forced so he could run as an independent but he has now returned to the Tory fold as candidate for the constituency.
Meanwhile, former minister Esther McVey appears set for a return to Parliament after being selected as the candidate in George Osborne’s old seat of Tatton.
