£5.3 bn ‘ruse’ MPs condemn Better Care Fund’s failure

A £5.3 billion Better Care Fund pot to integrate health and social care has not achieved a single target and is “little more than a ruse” to plug gaps in local authority budgets, MPs have said. The public affairs committee added that administrators displayed “an appallingly casual attitude” to targets set for cutting hospital emergency admissions and bed blocking by patients who are fit to leave.
