A nasty crop of wheelie-bins outside the house

-

sir – Rubbish bins disfiguring our townscapes are no joke (Leading article, May 22). One only has to visit Nottingham to see the lines of bins permanently littering the streets.

Bath needs to look to Chichester as an example of a beautiful city with many pavement houses and no bins to be seen.

sir – For those of us who live in terraces without front gardens, the problem is serious. Rather than wheel them through their houses, people who have chosen to use the bins often leave them permanently in the street, where they constitute both eyesores and obstructions, particularly in the dark.

Those residents of Bath who have been denied the alternative of more easily manageable plastic rubbish bags have every right to be very upset.
