Policewoman

-

A member of Cheshire Police was among those killed in the blast, the constabulary confirmed last night.

The unnamed woman, whose husband and two children were reportedly injured in the blast, is the second officer to be killed by terrorism in less than three months. Pc Keith Palmer was stabbed during the Westminster terror attack in March.

“Once again the service has been rocked by the devastating news that a member of the police family has lost their life because of the murderous actions of a terrorist,” said Steve

White, chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales, after it was confirmed that an off-duty policewoman died in the terrorist attack.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of everybody affected at this difficult time,” he added.

A statement from the constabulary said: “Cheshire Police is now in a position to confirm that sadly one of our female officers tragically died while off-duty at the Manchester Arena. Unfortunately, we are not able to release any further details at the stage.”
