Defiant participants of the Great Manchester Run take to the streets yesterday less than a week after the suicide bombing that killed 22 concert-goers. Backed by signs reading “I love Manchester” and watched by armed police, the largescale event started yesterday after contestants and spectators observed a minute’s silence for victims of the attack, which was followed by a round of applause for the emergency services.
