Gatecrashing fox cub goes to earth under family’s sofa

-

A fox cub has been taken into care after it was discovered “lodging” under a sofa at a family home.

It is thought the six-weekold cub had been living in the house in Welney, Norfolk, for several days and had entered through a hole left by a missing cat flap.

A smell had begun to emanate from the sofa, and the home owners decided to investigate when they realised the family cat was “standing guard”.

Josh Flanagan, the founder of Fenland Animal Rescue, which is currently looking after the fox, said: “It soon became apparent this little one had been in the house for several days and had been without food or fluids throughout.”

The charity is looking after the fox until it can be released into the wild.
