Mother-to-be’s speedy police escort to hospital

-

A woman who was about to give birth was given an armed escort to hospital after her car was pulled over for speeding.

The mother-to-be, who was in the final stages of labour, was being driven to hospital in Carmarthen, Wales, by her partner. When he overtook a police car, the vehicle was stopped.

The armed officers then came up with a plan for one of them to drive the couple’s car to hospital, escorted by the other officer, leaving the expectant father free to look after his partner.

They reached the hospital in time for the healthy baby boy’s birth, a Dyfed-powys Police spokesman said.
