Boys’ books

- Margaret Higgs

SIR – A few years ago, I tired of being told, even in jest, by my husband when he solved a crossword clue that it was “the advantage of a classical education”, and started Latin lessons.

However, the books we read as children also mean one or other of us solves a clue which the other cannot. I know the names of the characters in Little Women but have no idea of the names of Native American tribes, nor the heroes of The Eagle and the comic characters in The Beano.

How can I do a crash course in boys’ literature, without reading the books?
