Wife attacked for ‘anti-christmas’ faith

-

 A husband attacked his wife for becoming a Jehovah’s Witness as he feared she would cancel Christmas.

Jason Mortimore, from Exeter, saw that his wife, Rachel, had “returned to her faith of Jehovah’s Witness”, and thrown away Christmas brochures, Exeter magistrates’ court was told. Assuming she would not celebrate the event, he struck her in the face three times with a magazine and later burned her Bible and other religious documents in a garden incinerator.

Mortimore, 46, admitted racially aggravated assault and criminal damage and was fined £666.
