Tiger death zoo may not have had council check

-

A zoo where a keeper was killed by a tiger may not have been properly inspected by its local authority, it emerged last night.

Police are investigating the circumstances under which 33-yearold Rosa King was mauled to death at Hamerton Zoo. Local authorities are required to carry out an informal inspection of zoos in any year where there is not a government inspection. A spokesman for Huntingdonshire district council would not confirm when the council last inspected the zoo. It has also emerged that a staff member was escorted from the zoo by police and that CCTV footage of the attack may have been recovered.
