Part-time workers
SIR – Along with the lack of nurses and teachers (Letters, May 26), we hear of professions such as general practice struggling to fill vacancies.
With growing numbers of women in these professions, it is understandable that part-time work has become more common, as it suits those who need to juggle the demands of job and family. You therefore need to employ more than one professional for each job.
What comes as a surprise is that this doesn’t seem to have been anticipated, and more people trained. Richard Davy
