This weekend is the 90th birthday of the beloved actor and Britain’s top Grumpy Old Man, Geoffrey Palmer. This charming drama set on a bowling green celebrates Palmer’s contribution to radio with a story from 2003 in which he plays Bill, a retired confectioner who takes his successful bowls career very seriously indeed. Bill and his wife, Margaret (Stephanie Coles), have their eyes on the Riddington Married Couples Cup, but everything comes under threat when a thrusting younger couple start to muscle in.
