Prison guards ‘smuggled drugs in Pringles tubes’

-

Pringles tubes were used by guards at a troubled prison to smuggle drugs and mobile phone in to inmates, a court has heard.

Prison officers Ricky Bridger, 54, and Simon Taylor, 28, allegedly used the empty crisp tubes to get cocaine, steroids, syringes, needles, phones and synthetic drug spice past other guards.

Hove Crown Court in East Sussex heard Bridger and Taylor had been the prohibited items by girlfriends or relatives of inmates in the jail.

There are 10 defendants, including the two prison officers, who all deny conspiracy to convey prohibited items into the prison. The trial continues.
