Channel 4 appoints first woman chief

Channel 4 has appointed Alex Mahon of special effects software company Foundry as chief executive. She will be the first woman to be the permanent holder of the role, which attracts a pay package of almost £900,000. She has a wealth of TV experience, as well as a PHD in medical physics.
