Venezuelan politicians ‘attacked by police’
Venezuelan opposition politicians said they were struck and shoved into a ditch by police who broke up an anti-government protest.
“A national guard struck my companion [National Assembly member] Miguel Pizarro and threw me into that ditch. Those guards went crazy,” Juan Requesens, a student leader, told reporters at the scene of the incident on a highway in Caracas.
It was the latest in more than two months of clashes between police and protesters who want elections to replace President Nicolás Maduro.
