Labour’s pledge on tax under fire

Jeremy Corbyn’s pledge to protect 95 per cent of people from tax rises was questioned after it emerged up to four million married couples will pay higher income tax under Labour.

Labour’s manifesto promises to scrap the Marriage Allowance, but the Tories said the cut would hit working couples because it is only paid where the higher earner is on less than £45,000 a year.
