PARENTING TWINS THE EARLY YEARS

-

In those first few days, one wailing baby can look much like another, no matter what gender they are. Make the most of this time when your twins look like twins.

By the time they are out of nappies, there is no danger of anyone mistaking boy for girl. From age three, he may be taller and bulkier than his sister and passers-by will assume an age difference.

Changing nappies will be easier with the girl. Boys often enjoy a good projectile pee.

Boys and girls develop at different rates, which can be a source of tension among twins. The boy may be less emotionally mature, and therefore not so inclined to share toys, etc. Appreciate the relative calm while you can.

Don’t assume there will be a special bond between them. Opposite-sex twins typically feel more individualistic than other twins.
