European court offers Charlie Gard a lifeline

-

A couple who want to take their terminally ill baby to the US for treatment have been given a lifeline after a European court said he must be kept alive while it makes a decision.

Chris Gard and Connie Yates want their 10-month-old son Charlie, who suffers from a rare genetic condition, to undergo a therapy trial.

The European Court of Human Rights has told doctors in London to continue treatment until midnight on Tuesday to give them time to examine papers filed by the couple’s lawyers.
