Food fad Red cupcakes blamed for new allergies

A leading dietitian has claimed the rise of red velvet cupcakes is fuelling an increase in food allergies. Dr Isabel Skypala, from the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation, said the use of cochineal in the cakes triggered previously unknown allergies. Laura Donnelly
