Thornberry amused by Corbyn’s ‘boobgate’
EMILY THORNBERRY, the shadow foreign secretary, has laughed off an incident dubbed “boobgate” after a video of Jeremy Corbyn failing to highfive her and hitting her chest instead went viral on the internet.
Ms Thornberry laughed when Sophy Ridge said during a Sky News interview: “It’s been good to speak with you, you certainly seem happy with that election result. But you might need to work on the high fives with Jeremy Corbyn though.”
Ms Thornberry raised her eyebrows in response in the good-natured interview.
It followed a clip of the pair celebrating her re-election which was widely shared on the internet after Ms Thornberry raised her hand for a high five but Mr Corbyn missed and hit her breast instead.
The mishap was not the first failed high five of election night for Mr Corbyn, who later failed again to complete the jovial greeting with an aide outside Labour HQ.
Mr Corbyn was at the count in his Islington North seat where he was re-elected with a total of more than 40,000 votes.
