UK one of the main alien species sites

The UK is among the worst countries for invasions of alien animals and plants, a global study has found.

Grey squirrels, Indian rose-ringed parakeets and Himalayan balsam weeds put Britain in the top 10 per cent for alien species. Durham University found islands and coastal countries to be the most likely to be colonised.
