Automated tweets

Our article “Fake web accounts boosting Labour vote” (June 2) incorrectly cited Oxford University research as having found “21,661 Labour-supporting tweets” and “more than 13,000 Tory-supporting tweets” from automated accounts during one week earlier in the election campaign. In fact, the research does not show whether these tweets were promoting or criticising a particular party or candidate. We apologise for this error.
