-

A police officer who fostered a 14-year-old girl after she was rescued from child sex abuse went on to abuse her himself, a court has been told.

Social workers placed the teenager with the Metropolitan Police officer and his wife. But the girl had an illicit sexual relationship with him.

Another man, Andrew Timblin, 60, was jailed at Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester for 21 years for raping the victim and a second girl, 17.

Two men were acquitted of sex charges, while the girl’s 40-year-old mother, who has five other children, was given a nine-month suspended sentence for child cruelty. The police officer, in his 30s, was jailed at another hearing for seven years for child sexual activity and abduction.
