Fury at politician’s colonialism praise

South Africa’s main opposition party yesterday removed former leader Helen Zille from all leadership roles after a disciplinary hearing over a tweet in which she praised aspects of colonialism.

Ms Zille has apologised “unreservedly” for a post in March which claimed that colonialism’s legacy was not “only negative” and had led to improved judiciary, water and transport systems.
