BA passengers fly without bags after new system failure

-

Thousands of passengers at Heathrow were forced to fly without their luggage due to a baggage system failure yesterday morning.

Travellers using Terminals 3 and 5 on British Airways, Iberia and American Airlines flights were warned to pack essentials in hand luggage.

Passengers took to social media to express their disgust at the situation, which comes just three weeks after the airport saw scenes of chaos caused by a BA IT failure. Investors were told yesterday that the IT failure would cost the airline £80 million.

Zoe Morrison claimed on Twitter that BA had “let us down again”. “No baggage being loaded this morning and no information for passengers,” she added. Another customer, Ryan Wooldridge, described the situation as an “absolute shambles”.

A spokesman for Heathrow said the situation was resolved at about 9am.

A BA spokesman told customers: “We’re sorry for the disruption.”
