Rock Dog (2016) SKY CINEMA PREMIERE, 7.00PM ★★★

 Luke Wilson, Eddie Izzard and JK Simmons join forces to voice this fun, family animation. When a radio falls from the sky into the paws of young Tibetan Mastiff Bodi (Wilson) while he’s tending sheep, he is inspired to head for the city to become a rock star with the help of his cool-cat idol Angus Scattergood (Izzard). What follows is an ode to the power of music and mild rebellion.

Pitch Perfect (2012) E4, 9.00PM ★★★

 The world of collegiate a cappella singing contests can’t be as heartless as Jason Moore’s sour comedy would have us believe. Anna Kendrick stars as Beca, an angsty outsider who must shake up the image and the uninspiring monotony of her group’s arrangements, while trying to handle how weird they all are. It’s a little like Glee but without the schmaltz. Rebel Wilson co-stars.

The Fighter (2010) CHANNEL 4, 12.55AM ★★★★

 Set in Massachusetts, David O Russell’s cracking biopic of Irishamerican welterweight Micky Ward is more about family than boxing. Mark Wahlberg is solid in the title role, but stealing the show are flamboyant Oscar-winning performances from Christian Bale as his drug-addict brother and coach, Dicky, and Melissa Leo as his toxic mother and manager, Alice.
