Children are bored by 1.30pm in summer hols

Parents can only keep their children entertaine­d until 1.30pm during a typical day in the summer holidays, research has revealed

The average parent suggests 13 things their child could do every week during the summer break, according to a survey by deals website Groupon.

Despite this, the average child starts to get bored just after 1.30pm during July and August.

Parents also spend an average of £251 to keep their children occupied over the holidays, the research found.

And two in five parents are already reining in their spending to boost their budgets during the summer.
