Doctor ‘made threats’ to National Trust rangers

A hospital consultant threatened to kill two National Trust rangers and pursued them in his 4x4 car in a long-running dispute over putting blocks on a grass verge on the Vaynol Park estate in Bangor, which is owned by the Trust.

Dr Richard Sion Williams ran alongside Will Westwood and his line manager John Whitley, banging on the window and shouting abuse, Llandudno magistrate­s’ court was told.

Dr Williams, 52, who works at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, told police he was annoyed to see the blocks being thrown on to his land.

The trial continues on Wednesday.
