Dog snaffles kebab – and the skewer too
A dog is lucky to be alive after swallowing a 15in metal kebab skewer.
X-rays show the piece of metal stretching from the labrador’s stomach to its gullet.
Howie, aged eight, spotted the skewer with marinated chicken cubes on a kitchen worktop at home in Fareham, Hampshire.
The dog jumped up and ate it in one gulp “like a sword” when owner Sue Woodward turned her back.
“It was a like a vacuum cleaner. He just jumped up, grabbed it from the worktop and hoovered it up,” said 45-year-old Mrs Woodward.
Veterinary staff managed to remove it without surgery. The dog has previously eaten Venetian blinds, knickers, socks and kitchen sponges.
