At the European Open Championships in Montecatini, the Mixed Pairs and European Bridge League cup have now concluded, writes Julian Pottage, Bridge Correspondent.

In the Mixed Pairs, a Polish pair, Justyna Zmuda & Michal Klukowski, won the Gold medal, the German pair of Sabine Auken & Roy Welland won the silver medal and the Chinese pair of Jian Wang & Junjie Hu won the Bronze medal. The leading British/english pairs were Sally Brock & Barry Myers in 20th place closely followed by David Gold & Susanna Gross in 21st place.

In the EBL cup, the winners with 58.18% were the Dutch pair of Ed Hoogenkamp & Rob Helle. The English pair of Tracy Capal & David Sherman were a close second with 58.12% while the Russian pair of Georgi Matushko & Anna Gulevich were third with 57.95%. The next highest British/ English pair was Brian Senior & Sandra Penfold in 20th place with 54.38%.
