SIR – I have noticed a tendency to pronounce the name of this paper with a long a. This is a departure from the traditional pronunciation Tell-egraff, with a short final syllable.

Classicists and pedants will note that the Greek word from which the name is derived unambiguously has a short a. Neil Sewell-rutter
