Eye-locution

SIR – I have never heard the name of this paper pronounced with a short a (Letters, June 20) – not even by people who worked for it.

I take as my guide the poem on an early Private Eye Christmas record: When I am feeling like a laugh

I read The Daily Telegraph,

And all my troubles disappear When I am reading Peterborough.
