Bank of England could face even split on rate rise

Andy Haldane, the Bank of England’s chief economist, says ultra-low interest rates may have to rise this year both to constrain inflation and prevent bigger rises later on. Such a change of mind would see the Bank’s committee on rates split with Governor Mark Carney holding the deciding vote.
