Teenager gave her father CPR after she saw it on TV drama

A TEENAGER saved her father after he suffered a cardiac arrest using techniques she learnt on a medical TV drama.

Kodie Holland, 18, has watched every episode of the US show House, starring Hugh Laurie – during which she picked up some medical knowhow.

When her father, Barry, 56, suffered a cardiac arrest Miss Holland, from Garras, Cornwall, sprang into action, giving him chest compressions.

She said: “I just jumped in and knew what to do. You have to do it in the middle of the chest and quite hard to get through the muscle.”

She added: “I’m a big House fan. I used to watch it quite a lot. I was obsessed with it at one point. After it was all over, I was thinking about how I knew how to do such good compressions and I really think I must have learnt it from there.”

Mr Holland has since been released from hospital after having a device fitted to regulate his heart rhythms.
