Drowned boy’s parents accused of manslaughter
The parents of a five-year-old boy who drowned in a water park have been charged with manslaughter by gross negligence.
Charlie Dunn died in hospital after he was found submerged in a lake at Bosworth Water Park near Hinckley, Leics, on July 23 last year after he wandered off while his parents were packing their car. Charges against his mother Lynsey Dunn, 28, and stepfather Paul Smith, 36, were dropped in December but they were arrested again in March and yesterday were charged at Leicester magistrates’ court. Mr Smith was remanded in custody and Ms Dunn released on bail.
