Two dead, one injured after crane collapse

Two men have died after a crane collapsed at a building site in Crewe, police said last night. A third man, believed to be the crane driver, was taken to Royal Stoke Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The occupants of a house damaged by the falling crane were uninjured.

Ch Supt Matt Welsted of Cheshire Police said: “The bodies of those who have sadly lost their lives will shortly be recovered from the scene.”

Police were asking for video evidence, but requested that any film be not posted online in respect of the families of those involved.
