Less rage, please

-

SIR – With the range of problems facing our country, perhaps what we need is a day of reconciliation, not a “Day of Rage” (report, June 21).

Many years after the rage of the Crimean War, a Monument of Reconciliation was erected near Balaklava for all the parties involved to come together in a spirit of community. Jeremy Burton

Wokingham, Berkshire

SIR – Not being an expert on Facebook, I would welcome details from anyone on whether there is a protest I can attend which is demonstrating in favour of democracy, living within our means, compassion and rights that come with responsibilities.

I will happily make my own way there. John Hutchinson

Addingham, West Yorkshire

SIR – Among those taking to the streets, and in the process adding to already inflamed passions, is the BBC television news.

Whether their objective is political or just to fill screen time, only they know.

What we all know is that anger and hatred, to which they give much air-time, can lead to violence. James Sharp

Tewin, Hertfordshire

SIR – If ever there was a justification for the water-cannons acquired in Boris Johnson’s time as mayor of London, it must be now. Rick Emerson

Bagshot, Surrey
