‘I TAKE DARCY FOR DINNER AT CHILTERN FIREHOUSE’
Interior designer May Wong, 58, lives in Chelsea with her two dogs: cockapoo Darcy and rescue dog George. She bought Darcy when she was single, explaining: “I always wanted a Darcy in my life”, and now the pair are inseparable. They have just come back from a Prada shopping trip and have travelled the world together, visiting everywhere from the Netherlands to the United States, blogging their adventures on Missdarcy.org.
Darcy dines with Wong at top London restaurants, from Chiltern Firehouse (where dogs are as welcome on the sofas as their owners) to Le Gavroche – “she can be very prim and proper” – though her daily diet is organic raw meat. In winter, she sports a customised waxed cotton Barbour jacket; come summer, a classic Burberry trench.
“It’s all very traditional English,” explains Wong. “I like nice things, so I designed them for her. She’s my baby. People call her spoiled, but I think I spoil myself rather than her, because everything I do is for me.”
