Glastonbury turned into a rally for Corbyn

- Stephen Howey Paul Brazier Maurice Burbidge James Barker Ruth Wright

SIR – Since its inception, the Glastonbury festival has been a very happy event, if sometimes a muddy one. Hundreds of thousands have enjoyed a switch-off from their daily lives and worries.

For Jeremy Corbyn to seek to turn this into a political rally is an utter disgrace.

SIR – On Saturday, while Jeremy Corbyn spent his day at Glastonbury, Theresa May attended Armed Forces Day in Liverpool.

SIR – A great shame that Labour politics have become the politics of protest and not progress, sowing the seed among the young of unrest and not investment.

Kingswood, Gloucestershire SIR – Could someone explain to the young voters who have apparently been persuaded by pledges of “free” university education that in the days of student grants and no university fees the basic income tax rate was 33 per cent and mortgage interest rates eventually climbed into double digits.

Do they really wish to return to those days?

SIR – If you think Corbyn is a Che Guevara, you are sad.

SIR – I wonder if Jeremy Corbyn was aware of the brand of cider he was serving to his adoring fans at Glastonbury.

Photos clearly showed several paper cups adorned with the name Thatchers Gold.
