Brexit Trojan horse

- Terry Smith Alan Sabatini

SIR – The Government should have no truck with a cross-party commission on Brexit of the kind mooted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby.

Far from resembling a war-time coalition government determined on victory despite the odds, it is a design for surrender by the appeasement element of our liberal establishment, who behind closed doors secretly scorn the people’s expressed will.

The Archbishop’s proposed commission would not succeed in “drawing the poison” of the Brexit debate. Rather, it would make matters infinitely worse. Instead of a just struggle to regain our sovereignty from the anti-democratic powers in the EU, we would have a civil war at home.

The British people will not tolerate a sell-out.
