SIR – I realise that the etiquette of conversation (Letters, June 24) requires the removal of sunglasses. If however in sunny weather I removed my photochromatic prescription spectacles, I’d no longer be able to see my acquaintance. Are electronically switchable glasses are the answer? John A Tallis
