Gentleman in waiting

-

SIR – When Theresa May decides (or it is decided) that the time has come for her to stand down, she will need to be replaced by someone who is intelligent, articulate, unflappable, mature but not too old, wellmannered, with a strong financial background, trustworthy and extremely knowledgeable on Brexit matters, of exemplary character and transparent integrity, not marked by personal ambition, highly respected in the House of Commons (possibly even to the point of being considered as a future Speaker), admired by the population at large and preferably untarnished by the leadership shenanigans over the past year.

Fortunately for the Conservatives, they have someone on their benches who meets all these criteria. That person is Jacob Rees-mogg. Lord Grantley London SW3
