Brazil president: charges ‘absurd’

-

Michel Temer, the Brazilian president, said yesterday that bribery charges against him were “absurd”, a source in his office said. Mr Temer is the first sitting president of Brazil to face criminal charges. If the lower house of Congress votes by a two-thirds majority to accept the charge, he would be suspended for 180 days and face the Supreme Court.
