Commuters’ trips delayed by TV star’s cows on the line

-

 Runaway cows disrupted rush-hour journeys for thousands of commuters on one of the country’s busiest railway lines yesterday morning after escaping from the farm of television star Jimmy Doherty.

Packed early trains connecting East Anglia to London were affected after a handful of the rare breed animals escaped from Jimmy’s Farm at Wherstead, near Ipswich, Suffolk.

The cows were spotted on the rails in Ipswich Tunnel, blocking the lines as passengers looked on and took photographs.

Jimmy’s Farm has featured in several BBC television series. None of the cows was injured and they were rounded up and returned to their field after 20 minutes.

A spokesman said: “We are really sorry for any disruption caused.”
