Crowd escapes injury in Paris mosque attack

-

A man has been arrested after trying to ram a car into a crowd in front of a mosque in Paris, police have said.

No one was injured in the attack in the Parisian suburb of Créteil.

According to Le Parisien newspaper, he tried to flee the scene on foot, but was arrested. The man, understood to be of Armenian origin, told police he wanted to avenge attacks linked to Isil, citing the Nov 2015 attack on the Bataclan theatre in which 90 people died. Last week, Darren Osborne, 47, was charged with terrorism-related murder and attempted murder after allegedly driving a van into a crowd of Muslims near Finsbury Park mosque, London.
