President’s travel rules Scope of ban is narrowed
President Trump’s temporary ban on people from Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen – all predominantly Muslim countries – and all refugees, was finally set to take effect last night, but in a scaledback form that still allows in some travellers.
The roll-out of the controversial measure follows a Supreme Court decision that allowed the executive order to take effect but significantly narrowed its scope.
The State Department said visa applicants must have a close US family relationship or formal ties to a US entity to be admitted, in keeping with the Supreme Court’s ruling.
